The Management program’s Board of Advisors has been in existence for more than 10 years. It plays a vital role in helping to provide professional insight as pertains to the Department’s students. Board members come from both profit and non-profit entities and represent varying disciplines such as healthcare, information technology, and consulting. The varied interests and backgrounds of Board members helps to further the different specializations in the undergraduate degree program in the Department which include entrepreneurship, management of health-care enterprises, global e-business, personnel management, and supply chain management.
Specific objectives of the Board of Advisors include:
- Provide an effective link between management education and management practice;
- Promote good public relations and a positive image on behalf of the Department;
- Identify and suggest opportunities for enhanced student and faculty development, such as involving internships, externships, and applied research sites;
- Assist in fund raising for the Department

He has advised and led dozens of clients in gaining national recognition for management achievements and major efficiency gains, often involving large contract awards, dozens of management quality certifications and other standards. He specializes in client engagements leading interdisciplinary process improvement teams, often employing Quality Management DMAIC and Six Sigma principles.
Richard routinely develops and implements corporate management training programs as an integral part of most consulting engagements. He also has lectured at over 20 universities and currently serves as an Adjunct Instructor in Program and Project Management at University of California, Irvine.
Richard served as an USAF Officer in the Air Force Systems Command. He was a pioneering leader while in the USAF, developing and implementing new management thinking, known today an Earned Value Management (EVM) which is now institutionalized as an ANSI Standard.
His commercial and institutional clients are often from among hi-tech and capital-intense industries, with over 25% of the Fortune '100' among his clientele. Government clients include the US Departments of Defense and Energy, NASA and the EPA. International government clients include the sovereign nations of the United Kingdom, Italy, Sweden, Jamaica, Venezuela, Australia, India, China, and Canada.

As the Federal Field Medical Policy Director at Pfizer he provided project management for federal healthcare policy and public relations activities related to value based purchasing, comparative effectiveness, healthcare information technology and Medicare policies and regulations. He served as its representative to the National Quality Forum (NQF), the Pharmacy Quality Alliance (PQA), the American Health Quality Association (AHQA) the corporate board of the American College of Physicians, and on the EBM and Quality subgroups of PhRMA.
He served as a senior medical officer in the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) from 2004 till 2008 and was responsible for coordinating the quality initiatives within the Medicare Advantage, Medicare Drug Benefit and Special Needs Programs. He was the acting Division Director within the Quality Measurement and Health Assessment Group and worked on the National Voluntary Hospital Reporting Initiative, the Chronic Care Improvement Pilot and the Medicare Quality Monitoring System (MQMS) database activity. He represented CMS on the Ambulatory Quality Alliance (AQA), the Hospital Quality Alliance (HQA), the Department of Health and Human Services interagency taskforce, which produces the National Healthcare Quality and National Healthcare Disparities Reports, and as an alternate delegate to the American Health Information Community (AHIC).
At the Department of Veterans’ Affairs (VA) he was the Director of the Managed Care Clinical Center of the VA Maryland Health Care System within VISN 5 (Veteran’s Integrated Service Network). He served as the Chief of Performance Measures for his health care system. He was Director of Primary Care at the Marion VA Medical Center (VISN 15) in Illinois.
As a board certified Internist, Dr. Sinha practiced Internal Medicine in a 45-member multi-specialty clinic in Illinois and served as Chairman of the Department of Medicine. He currently maintains his teaching and clinical affiliations at the Baltimore VA Medical Center, where he has a clinic.

Mr. Rooji Sugathan is a Senior Director of Information Technology at Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri. In his position, Mr. Sugathan provides strategic direction and management leadership necessary to support all aspects of information technology at Washington University. He is currently the technology lead for a systems transformation program at Washington University that include implementation of an Enterprise Resource Planning system (WorkDay) and all supporting projects associated with the effort that includes a complete overhaul of the data ecosystem at the university.
Prior to joining Washington University, Mr. Sugathan held various IT-related positions, such as Program Director and Product manager at different organizations, including Express Scripts and Ungerboeck Systems International. Mr. Sugathan received a MA degree from the University of Madras India and an MBA from Southern Illinois University Carbondale. He is currently a candidate for the Doctor of Philosophy degree from the University of Missouri – St. Louis.

In April, 2015 the citizens of Murphysboro, IL elected Voss Alderman of Ward 5. As Alderman he, the mayor and a 10 person city council make decisions that impact the city, its employees and residents. Voss and his wife, fellow SIU graduate Melissa, have lived in the Jackson County seat since 2006.
The Vosses are active members of the Murphysboro Bocce Club and Herby is a co-director of one of the region’s premier charity fundraisers; the Hospice of Southern Illinois Annual Red Carpet Gala. Voss’ daughter Abby also graduated from Southern in 2012.
